Standardisation & performance optimisation across global sites

Nexans is running a digital transformation project across all sites globally with the goal of optimising performance and traceability of the production at all sites.

 

Above all, the upgrade and modernisation of the SCADA systems is an important move to improve performance. At the same time, all relevant historical data needs to be secured and migrated to the new industrial platform based on AVEVA products. For example, this includes data from system platform (SCADA), manufacturing execution system (MES) and unified operations centre (UOC).

 

Moreover, Nexans wants both historical and new sensor data to be re-structured and made available both on the plant floor and in the plant office – and at both regional and global levels.

Solution

Comprehensive system integration & data standardisation

Init is a trusted partner, advisor, coordinator and system integrator to Nexans’ sites. We help secure high quality and standardisation in the implementation of new SCADA, MES and UOC solutions based on AVEVA technology.

 

In this project, our team of software engineers and designers were responsible for secure and reliable data transport from site to regional and global data centres, entailing for instance:

 

  • Data migration and standardisation to the new industrial data platform
  • System integration, design, development, and implementation of the SCADA system
  • Integration and configuration of new process lines
  • Secure data transfer and data replication from site to regional and global data centres

 

Init acted as advisor, coordinator and system integrator on behalf of Nexans. Furthermore, we developed reporting, dashboards and analytics as well and training and user documentation.

Result

Enhanced system functionality and data security

Thanks to Init’s contributions, Nexans has significantly enhanced the functionality, cyber security and reliability of its SCADA solutions. In addition, they achieved:

 

  • Optimised real-time situational awareness
  • Improved production supervision
  • Optimised maintenance efforts
  • Increased overall performance

 

In sum, Nexans has achieved full visibility and access to unified data from the plant floor to the global management.
